I wish someone would tell me why the media are so concerned about the teacher shortage. There is no shortage of teachers. How do I know? I have a teaching license and I don't have a job. And I am not the only one. I will agree there is a shortage of elementary teachers, but as for secondary schools, there is no shortage.
There is a solution. If all the math teachers would teach math and English teachers teach English and science teachers teach science and social studies teachers teach social studies, there would be no shortage of teachers. I would probably even have a job if this were the case. But until that day arrives, I will have to continue to listen to the media drone on about a shortage of teachers.
