Bank of America Corp., the second- biggest U.S. bank, was cleared by U.S. antitrust authorities to buy ABN Amro Holding NV's LaSalle Bank unit for $21 billion.

The transaction appeared on a list of completed merger reviews issued by the Federal Trade Commission. ABN Amro is the target of a takeover fight between Royal Bank of Scotland Group Plc and Barclays Plc. ABN Amro agreed to sell Chicago-based LaSalle in April.
