Samantha Kay Mehlbauer
6/14/1988 ~ 8/19/2007
Samantha Kay Mehlbauer, 19, died Sunday due to complications after a long struggle with diabetes. She was a sweet, happy and outgoing young woman with an energetic personality, a brilliant smile and an infectious laugh. She graduated from New Kent High School in the spring of 2006 and was engaged to Chris Boettger last Valentine's Day. Shortly after their engagement Sammy moved to Utah to stay with her sister Kelli and to be closer to her family and her fiancé, who serves at Beale AFB in California. They were to be married in three weeks. Our time with Sammy was short, but even in death she has taught us to never be afraid to help someone in need.
She is survived by her fiancé Chris, parents Joe and Brenda Mehlbauer and sister Heather of Quinton, VA; sister Kelli (Justin) Henderson and their children, grandparents Joe and Dawnie Mehlbauer of Tooele, UT; and Barbie MacNaughton of Quinton, VA; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends who will all miss her dearly. She is preceded in death by her grandfather, Roger MacNaughton and cousin, Lindsey Wanish.
A memorial service will be held on Sat. August 25 from 3-6 p.m. at the home of Kelli and Justin Henderson: 1412 W. Creekhaven Drive (11660 S.) Riverton, UT. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation 120 Wall St. 19th Floor, New York, NY 10005.
