Jeanne Haycock Carr
1926 ~ 2007
Jeanne Lucille Haycock Nicholl Carr passed away on August 21, 2007 at the age of 80. Born on Oct. 20, 1926 in South Salt Lake to Benjamin and Emilie Christiansen Haycock. She attended Granite High, LDS Business College and USU. She married William Nicholl, later divorced. She married the love of her life, Don Keith Carr on Nov. 29, 1967 in Las Vegas, NV.
Jeanne loved her family and greatly enjoyed family visits, celebrations, and holidays. She was very proud of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, attending all possible concerts, sporting events, graduations and birthday parties. She enjoyed traveling with her family and had many fond memories of Oklahoma, the Caribbean, Hawaii, Mexico, England and Tahiti.
Her working career was varied and eventful. She was a Western Union typist on VE Day in 1945. She was involved in the early years of local television on Social Hall Avenue. She made her television debut on live TV and earned the nickname of "Shaky Hands." She worked for Utah Power & Light for over 20 years and was very active with the UP&L Retirees after her retirement in 1985. After retiring she found her second calling, volunteering at Cottonwood Hospital. In the past 20 years, she volunteered over 16,000 hours at the hospital. On July 4, 2007 she was honored in the Murray City parade as the top senior volunteer. As much as we'll miss her, we know she is at peace and enjoying her reunion with our loved ones. You are our guardian angel, Mema. We'll always love and remember you, Mom. Have a blended margarita for us.
Jeanne is survived by her children, Lynda (Ted) Prichett, Jackie Nicholl (Dan Darrington), Benji (Don) Lalli, and Nancy JoDene (Rod) Roberts; her sister Carol Buckley; seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband; her parents, brothers, Frederick, Robert, and Neil Haycock; and sisters Helen Goraj and Mary Tiniakoff.
Services will be Sat., August 25th, at 12 noon. The family will receive friends on Fri., August 24th from 6-8 p.m. and one hour prior to the service Sat. at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Chapel, 3401 S. Highland Dr, Salt Lake City, UT.
