The fifth annual Healing Field and Freedom Walk will be held Saturday, Sept. 8, at the Sandy Promenade in front of Sandy City Hall.
More than 3,000 8-foot-tall American flags will fill the promenade honoring military families, police and firefighters as well as the lives lost in the September 11, 2001, tragedy.
Along with this year's Healing Field is a 2-mile Freedom Walk. The Freedom Walk will be in conjunction with hundreds of other cities participating in America Supports You Freedom Walk. The Freedom Walk will start at 6:30 p.m. in front of the Sandy Promenade and circle the South Towne Center.
The cost is $12 for adults, $8 for children, free for those 8 and under. Discounts of $2 are available at participating retailers.
Participants will also have the opportunity to sign a 2-mile yellow ribbon for our troops in Iraq as part of Operation Thank You. The flags will remain part of the memorial until Sept. 12.
