It's bad enough that a Republican-dominated Legislature passes special legislation to thwart the will of Salt Lake County voters (e.g., redirecting our tax money so it can be "more wisely" spent on a soccer stadium we don't want), now we have a supposed Democrat, Rep. Karen Morgan, sponsoring legislation to (yet again) bypass the elected representatives of Salt Lake County over the division of school districts. Since home rule in Salt Lake County is an utter farce, we might as well disband the county government and allow the Legislature to govern the area directly — like Congress with D.C. — since that is the practical effect of its reactionary politics anyway.

Maybe the county council can help push the Legislature in that direction by passing a law punishing those who are cruel to animals.
