JOHN DAVID BOOTY, Sr., QB, Southern Cal — The Trojans weren't perfect in 2006 — they lost to Oregon State and rival UCLA — but Booty left no doubt that he was ready to replace Matt Leinart. In the Rose Bowl rout of Michigan, the first-year starter threw for 391 yards and four TDs. He's considered by many to be a top candidate for the Heisman.
LIMAS SWEED, Sr., WR, Texas — The 6-5 four-year starter had 12 TD catches and three 100-yard receiving games in 2006. Sweed is famous for making the game-winning TD catch against Ohio State during the Longhorns' national title run in 2005.
PAT WHITE, Jr., QB, West Virginia — As a sophomore, White accounted for 2,874 yards and 31 TDs of total offense. He averaged 138 yards passing and 102 yards rushing per game.

ADARIUS BOWMAN, Sr., WR, Oklahoma State — The transfer from North Carolina had a 1,000-yard receiving season in 2006, his first with the Cowboys after sitting out a year after coming to Stillwater from Chapel Hill. He had a 300-yard effort against Kansas and scored 12 TDs.
JARETT DILLARD, Jr., WR, Rice— The junior from San Antonio had six 100-yard receiving games last year, two of which came against notable competition in UCLA and Florida State. He had 21 TD catches and 1,247 yards receiving in 2006.
ANDRE' WOODSON, Sr., QB, Kentucky — Enters his third year as a starter coming off a terrific 2006 season, where he threw for 3,515 yards and 31 TDs against just seven interceptions. In the Music City Bowl, he was 20-of-28 for 299 yards.
3 trios you should know
JAKE LONG, CHAD HENNE, MIKE HART, Michigan — Long, the Big Ten offensive lineman of the year, is back at tackle for the No. 5 Wolverines. Hart is a Heisman Trophy candidate at running back, while Henne will be a fourth-year starter at quarterback.
KEITH RIVERS, REY MAUALUGA, BRIAN CUSHING, Southern Cal — These three linebackers are all candidates for the Bednarik Award and are a big reason the Trojans are the preseason No. 1. They'll play behind defensive linemen Sedrick Ellis and Lawrence Jackson, making for a pretty formidable defense.
QUARTERBACKS AT LSU, OHIO STATE AND OKLAHOMA — All three teams are in the preseason top 10, and all three will have a new QB this season. Senior Matt Flynn will start for the Tigers, junior Todd Boeckmann for the Buckeyes and redshirt freshman Sam Bradford for the Sooners.
