The Utah National Guard will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony

for the formal reopening of the Tooele armory, 16 S. First Street, today at 11 a.m.

Following the event, guard members, families and residents may tour the remodeled facility from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The seven-month project has completed an extensive renovation of the 50-year-old facility to include a new roof and landscaping, remodeled latrines and offices and new classrooms configured to facilitate the newest training requirements such as multimedia capability and Internet connectivity.

The armory will be home to the 214th Forward Support Company, First Battalion, 145th Field Artillery. Previously the armory housed Detachment 2, Alpha Company, 1457th Engineer Battalion.
