Jimmie Purser
1939 ~ 2007
Our loving husband, father, and grandfather answered his call to return to his Heavenly Father August 25, 2007. He died peacefully in his sleep.Jim was born to James Gilbert Purser and Erma Clifford Purser September 4, 1939 in a two bedroom cabin in Rigby, ID. He spent his childhood alongside his father as a bee keeper. Jim married his sweetheart and eternal companion, Betty Ruth Huff, February 3, 1959 in Middletown, OH. They were later sealed for time and all eternity in the Idaho Falls Temple June 11, 1964. Jim was a successful businessman. He spent nearly 35 years working for NCR as a salesman. During that time he earned numerous awards and distinctions including Rookie of the Year and multiple years as Salesman of the Year. He was a trusted and respected man in his field. He later began a business with his sons and continued to pass on his knowledge and expertise to his children and grandchildren.
He was an exceptional leader in the Boy Scouts of America program. He helped establish the first troop of Scouts in Middletown, OH. He spent countless years as an advisor and leader in the program. He was also honored to receive the Silver Beaver award for his efforts and dedication to the Boy Scouts. He has spent nearly a decade serving his Heavenly Father in the Jordan River Temple. He has worked in the Baptistry assisting many people in the sacred work of our Father in Heaven. He made many dear friends during this time and will be missed by them. Though he will no longer be present on Wednesday and Thursday evenings, we are sure his work in this area will continue. Of all his accomplishments, the greatest is his family. He loves and cherished his wife of 48 years. Together he and Betty raised seven children and were grandparents to 22 grandchildren.
He is survived by his sons, Jim (Denise) Purser, David (Julie) Purser, Daniel (Doris) Purser, Stephen (Kelli) Purser, and Jared (Jaci) Purser; daughters, Karen (Jeff) Braithwaite and Kristi Purser; sisters, Judy (Kent- deceased) Foster, and Jean (Will) Taylor. He was preceded in death by his son, Michael; father, James; mother, Erma; sisters, Dorothy Purser and Darlene Purser. He will be missed more than anyone will ever know for he was loved just as much.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 28, 2007, 11 a.m. at the Mountain View 2nd Ward, 2901 West 9000 South where a viewing will be held Monday, 6-8 p.m. and Tuesday, 9-10:30 a.m. prior to services. Interment, West Jordan City Cemetery. Arrangements under the direction of McDougal Funeral Home.
