Norma Fowler

01/25/32 ~ 08/24/07

Norma Fowler, 75, beloved wife, mother, sister and friend passed away August 24, 2007. True to her nature, she fought a dignified and graceful battle with cancer.Norma was born to Anders and Carla Nielsen January 25, 1932, in Randers, Denmark. She spent her early years under the German occupation of Denmark and felt greatly blessed to immigrate to the United States in 1948. Soon after, she married her lifelong sweetheart, Mark Fowler in the Salt Lake LDS Temple November 9, 1949. They became the parents of three children, Cristel, Dan and Matthew. Norma gave everything for her family, ensuring all were happy and well cared for. Even in the last few months of her life, her own concerns were second to those of others.

Norma was employed as a bank teller for 20 years and enjoyed serving the public. She created beautiful homes for her family in Utah, California and for the last nine years in Nampa, Idaho. Everywhere she lived she made lifelong, dedicated friends, due to her warm and loving personality.

Norma was known for spoiling family and friends with her wonderful Danish cooking. Most family traditions revolved around Norma in the kitchen making sure that everyone was well fed. She derived pleasure from stocking her pantry with home-canned fruits and vegetables. At her passing, she had over 50 pounds of butter in her freezer, probably due to the war rations under which she lived during her childhood. Norma loved a bargain and no one redeemed more S&H Green Stamps than she did.

Norma was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband, Mark; three children, Cristel, Dan (Yvonne), Matthew (Cheryl); and a brother, Preben (Ruth) Nielsen. She has 15 grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.

Even though Norma was always a wonderful wife, mother and friend, the last four years of struggle have provided God's final polish to one of His choicest daughters.

Norma was so appreciative of the loving kindness shown to her by Dr. Dee, Dr. Lung, Dr. Fiorentino and their staffs. She was especially well treated at MSTI, Nampa and looked forward to her visits there. Norma's family would like to express gratitude to her friends and ward family for their love and support.
