Family caregivers and the home- and community-based providers who help them will learn from nationally renowned experts in the field of dementia care at a conference, "Pillars of Dementia Care, Research, Collaboration, Validation and Creativity." It will be at the Rose Wagner Center, 138 W. 300 South. The Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America is hosting its annual "Guts and Glory" walk at Sugar House Park. Registration and breakfast begin at 8:30 a.m. and the walk starts at 9 a.m. in the Northwest Terrace. The event raises money to help the 11,500 Utahns and more than 1.5 million Americans who suffer from Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis. To register or get information, call 1-866-768-2232. The Walk for PKD will be at Ellison Park in Layton. Polycystic Kidney Disease is among the world's most common, life-threatening genetic diseases, affecting 600,000 Americans. Dialysis or kidney transplant are the only treatment options for the resulting kidney failure. Organizers hope to raise more than $20,000 during the event, which helps fund research. The first Utah Cancer Survivorship Summit, which educates survivors on quality-of-life issues, shares resources and talks about unmet needs will be at the Cultural Celebration Center, 1355 W. 3100 South, 9 a.m.-1 p.m. The half-day conference is for survivors and their medical advisers, with both adult and childhood cancer tracks, information fair and on-site child care for children accompanying adults.
