Good teachers will never be overpaid for their work in shaping the next generations. Poor teachers are overpaid the day they start. No industry in our society would tolerate — or stay competitive — if it were to be stuck with the one-size-fits-all concept that the Utah Education Association and the education community fosters.

Across-the-board bonuses are ridiculous on the face of it. Why do the governor and the Legislature continue to knuckle in to this powerful lobby that would like to keep our system from attaining a superior level of performance? Until we wake up and work out a plan to reward the better teachers, we will see ever more good teachers going into private industry and schools.
