NICHOLASVILLE, Ky. (AP) — Hundreds gathered Sunday to remember the 49 lives lost when a Comair flight crashed shortly after takeoff a year ago.
The memorial service, held at a church just a few miles from the airport where Comair 5191 crashed on Aug. 27, 2006, celebrated the lives of the victims, the efforts of the first responders and the outpouring of support from countless others.
"This past year has given us time to clear our eyes and express our thanks," said Wayne Turner, whose brother, Larry, was among the victims.
