OREM — A woman who fell 20 feet from a bridge early Saturday morning was rescued by two Orem police officers.
A man called police to report that his wife had superficially cut her wrists, tried to swallow a handful of Tylenol and was threatening to jump from the bridge over the Provo River at 800 South, just east of Carterville Road, said Orem Police Lt. Doug Edwards.
By the time officers got there, just before 6 a.m., the husband was leaning over the bridge hanging on to his wife.
However, before Officer Delwin Davis could help the man, the woman slipped and fell into the water.
Orem Officer Chris Watson ran downstream and jumped into the water looking for the woman. He found her unconscious and held onto her until Davis arrived and they could both drag her to shore, Edwards said
She was treated by paramedics at the scene then transported to Utah Valley Regional Medical Center. She has since been released, Edwards said.
