Thirteen Utah cancer survivors have been awarded college scholarships by the American Cancer Society.

Recipients include: Heather Barger, Cedar City; Amy Greetham, West Jordan; Alexander Hawkins, Sandy; Ana Kinikini, West Valley City; Marybeth Mack, Orem; Thomas Nielsen, Orem; Karli Padfield, Kamas; Lindsey Robinson, Pleasant Grove; Kathryn Rusk, Salt Lake City; Bryan Shumway, Orem; Kerby Smith, Moab; Alan Tracy, Provo; and Shannae Youssefi, Midvale.

Scholarships were awarded based on financial need, leadership, academic achievement and community service. To be eligible, candidates must have had a cancer diagnosis before age 21 and be a Utah resident.

This is the second year the American Cancer Society has awarded scholarships to young cancer survivors in Utah. Scholarship donors include Regence BlueCross BlueShield of Utah, The Mrs. Anima P. Ghosh Cancer Survivor Scholarship Endowment, the Harold J. Mack Family Foundation, the Ruth Eleanor and John Ernest Bamberger Memorial Foundation and Citigroup Foundation.
