Again the Deseret Morning News "letter of the month" concerns immigration and the idea that if we don't accept it, we are somehow abusing our faith ("We are all beggars," Aug. 26). I see things from a different perspective.
Nowhere in the letter does Ms. Rivera use the word "illegal." Does that matter? I think it does.
My faith espouses the idea that we are to "honor, sustain and obey the law." Nowhere does it give me permission to cross the border illegally, take up someone else's identity and falsify my papers to suit myself.
True, we are all beggars in the context Ms. Rivera has used, but I believe God expects us to be honest, law-abiding beggars. True charity is not taken from the pocket of others but comes through sacrifice.
