Though usually considered a savory herb, basil can add a peppery contrast to sweet fruit dishes.

As with any fruit salad, the list of fruits to include are recommendations, not rules. Add whatever you have, and certainly whatever is seasonal.

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/4 cup loosely packed fresh basil leaves, cut into slivers

In a large bowl, combine the apples, strawberries, blueberries, raspberries and peaches.

In a small bowl or cup, combine the cider vinegar and salt. Drizzle the vinegar mixture over the fruit and gently toss to coat evenly. Sprinkle the basil over the fruit and gently mix in. Let stand 15 minutes to allow flavors to blend.
