Christy Anne Brown, a former Cyprus High School English teacher charged with having sex with one of her 16-year-old male students, on Tuesday pleaded guilty to three counts of second-degree felony forcible sexual abuse.
They were the three original charges — with no reductions or amendments — that were lodged against her after she was arrested in July.
Third District Judge Tyrone Medley questioned Brown as to whether she knew that she was forfeiting the chance to have a trial by entering the guilty pleas. After her attorney, Walter Bugden, outlined the facts in the case, the judge asked Brown, "Is this a true and accurate description of the conduct you engaged in?"
"Yes," Brown replied.
Brown wept as she pleaded guilty to each count as read aloud by Medley.
Prosecutor Paul Parker said the victim and his family agrees to the resolution in the case.
Medley ordered a pre-sentence report and plans are in the works for a psycho-sexual evaluation as well. Sentencing is set for Oct. 19.
As a condition of Brown's release from jail, she has been ordered to live with her mother in Texas. Brown also has been ordered to have no contact with the victim, his family or anyone under age 18.
She was arrested when a West Valley City police office spotted her and a male juvenile in a parked car near 2900 South and 5600 West. The juvenile, who now is 17, was one of her students. The sexual incidents occurred between April and July.
