B. Lourene Mehl Hoorn

1933 ~ 2007

With great sadness we announce the death of our loving mother, grandmother, sister, wife and friend, Lourene Hoorn, who passed away unexpectedly August 26, 2007. Lourene was born in Paris, Idaho August 3, 1933 to Roscoe and Sally Nelson. She grew up in Provo, Utah. She married Frank W. Jenkins in 1953 and they lived in Granger, UT and had five children. In 1965 she married Paul W. Mehl, who was widowed with five children and they became one BIG family. Paul died in 1989. In 2000 she married John Hoorn and they have lived in Camas, WA for the last six years.

Lourene was a faithful member of the LDS Church. She served a mission in Nashville, TN and at the Family History Library in Oakland, CA. She was a devoted temple worker and her passion for genealogy, church work, and service inspired those around her. Lourene loved sewing, crocheting and quilting, and gave away countless beautiful handiworks to family, friends and those in need. She also loved reading, music and family gatherings.

She is survived by her children: Linda (Gary) Buck, Teri (Al Pach) Jenkins, Nancy (Rob) Dial, Julie (Patrick Cunningham) Jenkins and Kip (Kelly Goodin) Jenkins, Charlotte (Frank) Peterson, Charmaine (Randy) Frandsen, Paul Mehl Jr., Mike (Sherrie) Mehl and Derek (Brenda) Mehl; Steve (Nancy) Hoorn, Scott (Carrie) Hoorn, and Pam Cruise; grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and seven siblings.
