Loa Nelson Jones

12/31/1919 ~ 8/28/2007

Loa Nelson Jones died peacefully August 28, 2007 of natural causes. Loa was born December 31, 1919 in Spanish Fork, Utah to Lewis Ekelund and Nellie Nelson. She married the love of her life, M. Douglas Jones and together they raised two beautiful daughters, Christine (Craig) Stevenson and JoAnna (Kent) Thorne. Four of her greatest accomplishments in life were her grandchildren, Scott Stevenson, Alisa (Derek) Rothstein, Katie (Spencer) Taggart, and Jonathan (Kelli) Thorne.

She enjoyed countless hours and dedicated a great deal of her energies in serving others. It was truly what enriched her life. Loa was the epitome of a dedicated wife and mother. What mattered most in her life was her family. She taught by example with her graciousness and generosity. She was always available and consistent in the way she exemplified the true art of motherhood.

Loa was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served diligently in numerous positions throughout her life. Education was of utmost importance to Loa. By her example, she encouraged her children to constantly continue learning. Her home was her haven. Her warmth and welcoming charm enveloped all who entered. She will be greatly missed by the many lives she touched on earth. We are comforted in knowing that she is once again reunited with her loving husband.

She leaves behind her brother, Lewis Peter (Colleen) Nelson. She was preceded in death by her parents and sisters Myrle Stone and Norma Barney.

A memorial service will be held Friday, Aug. 31, 2007 at 11 a.m., at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park, 3401 S. Highland Dr. Funeral services are under the direction of Larkin Mortuary. www.larkinmortuary.com
