George Easton Young

1936 ~ 2007

George Easton Young, 70, passed away Tuesday, August 28, 2007 in Salt Lake City after valiantly battling several years of physical health illnesses.

He was born November 23, 1936 to Robert Easton Young and Ruth Van Komen Young. A great-grandson of Brigham Young.

George graduated from South High in 1955. He married his high school sweetheart Louise Gygi on June 11, 1957 in the Salt Lake Temple. Together they raised seven children and recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. He served his country in the Army Reserves from 1959 to 1965. His profession included working as a salesman for A&R Meats for 30 years and later as a facilities maintenance worker for the LDS Church. His love for God and fellow man was witnessed by magnifying his church callings, namely Young Men's President, Bishopric member and diligent home teacher until his health began to fail.

Our husband and father enjoyed the simple things of life. He was a friend to all, always encouraging and lifting those around him through his inquisitive questions and compassionate heartfelt greetings. He knew everyone serving as the "neighborhood watchman". His wave and smile will be remembered by all. His love and association with young people shined through while serving as their coach, mentor, friend and ally. He was a FAMILY MAN. Trips to Kamas, vacations and gatherings were the highlights and joys of his life. His legacy lives on through his family. His final thoughts and concerns were for the welfare and keeping of his beloved sweetheart, Louise.
