Emma (Peggy) Spencer Illi

1920 ~ 2007

Our beloved Mother and Grandmother, Emma Illi, age 87 of Bountiful, Utah, returned home to her Heavenly Father, Sunday, August 26, 2007. Emma was surrounded by her loving family. She died of natural causes.

Emma was born January 23, 1920, in Circleville, Utah, to George

William Spencer and Gomer Roe. She graduated from Escalante High School. She attended Westminster College in Salt Lake City. She graduated from Utah State University in Special Education. She taught in Davis County School District until she retired in 1988, teaching over 30 years. Emma joined the Navy as a "Wave" in World War II. She met her husband Wendell Illi while stationed there. They eventually settled in Bountiful, raising three children Tamara, Rebecca and Marti.

Emma was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in the Primary, Sunday School, ward Library and served as a temple worker. She was a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. She served in the American Legion Auxiliary.

The loves of her life were the arts, including opera, oil painting and Ukranian egg painting. Emma enjoyed horticulture, cross-country skiing, and traveling.

Mom exemplified a great love and concern for others over the needs of herself. Her life was spent in service to her husband, children, grandchildren and others. Mom enjoyed having a good time with them.

She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Wendell; daughters,

Tamara Moss and Rebecca Illi; and son Marti Illi. Grandchildren:

Michael, Brian, Sarah, Megan,

Nicholas, Haeli, Tyson, Porter, Kelsi, Logan, Sabrina, Marli, Lee, Gaili, Kari, Jini, Joesi and Baeli. Also, six great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held Fri. Aug. 31, at 11 a.m. at the Bountiful 27 Ward Chapel, 1135 N. 200 E.

Friends may call Thursday evening from 6-7:30 p.m. at the church and Thursday from 9:45-10:45 at the church prior to services.

Interment will be in the Lakeview Cemetery in Bountiful.
