GRADE C—

Offense

It's hard to judge too harshly considering the injuries to RB Matt Asiata and QB Brian Johnson, but the Utes' promising offense managed only 196 total yards. The running game (17 yards) never got going.

GRADE B—

Defense

Utah's defense looked solid against the run early and probably played well enough to give the Utes a chance had it gotten any help from the offense. But tailback Yvenson Bernard and the OSU running game eventually wore them down and ended up with 241 rushing yards.

Louie Sakoda's first field-goal attempt of the year was not a good effort, but the preseason Mountain West special teams player of the year was outstanding in the punting game, continually putting Oregon State in poor field position.

GRADE C

Overall

Allowances should be made for the fact that Utah was playing a difficult Pac-10 opponent in a hostile environment and suffered two major injuries on offense. Still, it was a disappointing effort.
