Dorothy Rufenach (Krueger) Knighton

1917 ~ 2007

Dorothy C. Rufenach (Krueger) Knighton passed away Sunday, 16 September 2007 after a short

illness.

She was born to Gertrude Evelyn Staley and William Henry Carbine in Stavely, Alberta, Canada on 31 December 1917. She was the youngest of six children. She lived in Cardston, Alberta, Canada for three years before moving to Ronan, Montana, where she lived for 42 years. There she married and reared two sons. She became a US Citizen 10 April 1942. She worked 25 years for the U.S. Department of Agriculture as Executive Director of the Lake County Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service in Montana. Upon her retirement, she moved to Salt Lake City.

She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints serving as a Young Women's president, and a leader in the genealogy program at both the ward and stake levels. She also worked as a teacher in the Young Woman's and Sunday School programs, served four stake missions, as well as a full time mission in Portland Oregon in 1977-78. She also served as a hostess at the Salt Lake Temple Square, an ordinance worker at the Salt Lake Temple, an usher at the Salt Lake Tabernacle and as a reader for Elder Sterling W. Sill. She held several positions in the Relief Society presidency, and has served a stake genealogical extraction mission.

Dorothy was married in the Jordon River Temple to William H. Knighton on 22 December, 1988.

Surviving is her husband, William (Bill), two sons, Glen Leslie (Les) Rufenach of San Diego, CA; and Clifford (Cliff) Leroy Rufenach of Lyons, CO. She also has three step children, Rhonda A Knighton of Salt Lake City; Carla K. Petersen of Willard; and William R. Knighton of Salt Lake City. She has four grand children, nine step grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at Larkin Mortuary in Salt Lake City, Friday 21 September 2007 at 12 noon. A viewing will be held Thurs. Sept. 20, from 6-8 p.m. and 11-11:45 a.m. prior to the service.

Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery, Ronan, MT. Tuesday 25 Sept. 2007 at 12 noon.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Perpetual Education Fund of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
