BALTIMORE (AP) — The mother of a boy found dead on a golf course after she allowed a convicted sex offender to care for him pleaded guilty Thursday to reckless endangerment, but she won't serve time in prison.

Prosecutors agreed to a plea bargain for Shanda Harris that included an eight-year suspended sentence. She had faced 14 years in prison.

Prosecutors said Harris knowingly allowed Melvin Jones to care for her children, including the boy who was found stabbed to death.
