Duane Rodney (Rod) Graham
1926 ~ 2008
Duane Rodney Graham devoted husband, father and grandfather departed this life peacefully surrounded by his loving family on January 14th, 2008 in Salt Lake City.Rod was born June 15, 1926 in Milburn, Utah the eldest son of Ellis Earl and Mary Mae Sanderson Graham. His father died when he was 11 years old and in 1965 his mother married Sheldon Dickson. He graduated from Manti High School and he participated in tennis and basketball where the teams went to the State championship games. Rod loved dancing and took advantage of every opportunity to attend dances. Immediately following high school, he went in to the Army, serving in the Pacific at the end of World War II. Upon returning home he attended Snow College where he and another young man won the Intermountain Junior College tennis doubles championship. He later attended BYU where he met Ethelyn Dickson. They were married in the Manti Temple on November 25, 1949. He rendered tender loving care to his wife, Ethelyn, for over 11 years after she suffered a stroke. He retired from Husky Oil Company after many years of service as a Regional Sales Manager. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many capacities including Bishopric Councilor, Stake High Councilor, Recommend Desk Supervisor at the Salt Lake Temple, and many other callings.
He enjoyed golfing, and before Ethelyn became ill they were able to travel and enjoyed seeing many parts of the world.
Rod was a man of honor and integrity and loved by all who knew him. He will be remembered for his quiet, unfailing service and devotion.
He will be greatly missed by his wife, Ethelyn, his daughter Sheri Funk (Steve), Bahrain, his son, Jeff Graham (Kathy), Bountiful and his daughter Lisa Graham-Glashien (John), West Bountiful, his nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren. His brother Jerry E Graham (Barbara) Stanwood, Washington, his sisters Nora Mae Willey (Clyde), Bountiful, Gloria Sonntag (Douglas, deceased), Salt Lake City, and Joan (Mac) Christensen, Bountiful. His stepbrothers Keith M. Dickson (Joan), Englewood, Colorado, Harold B Dickson (Marge), Ogden, Howard A. Dickson (DeeAnn), Riverdale, and a large extended family.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 19th at the Bountiful Fourth Ward Chapel 100 East 1400 South in Bountiful. Friends may call at Russon Brothers Mortuary 295 North Main in Bountiful from 6 - 8:00 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 18th and at the Church prior to the service from 11:45 to 12:45. Interment Bountiful City Cemetery.
