A man who sexually assaulted his friend's 9-year-old daughter after he was invited to spend the night so he wouldn't drive home drunk had a warrant issued for his arrest Thursday.
A $100,000 warrant was issued for 20-year-old Marty Richard Urias out of 3rd District Court for charges of sex abuse of a child and sodomy of a child.
Urias was actually booked into the Salt Lake County Jail on misdemeanor warrants for attempted burglary and theft Wednesday. He was booked before the warrant was issued. Urias was released, however, along with some other inmates in order for the jail to stay in compliance with its capacity guidelines. Because Urias' offenses were misdemeanors, he was one of the first to be considered for release.
Urias was at an acquaintance's house Saturday for a party and had too much to drink to drive home safely, said Salt Lake City police detective Jeff Bedard. The acquaintance told him to just spend the night at his house.
"At some point during the night he finds his way into the bedroom of a 10-year-old girl, the acquaintance's daughter," he said.
Police said Urias molested the girl and then told her to not tell her parents, Bedard said. The next morning, however, the girl told her parents.
