Following Thursday's workout, University of Utah junior all-arounder Kristina Baskett's ailing ribcage was feeling better, and she got through routines in vaulting and on uneven bars, so gymnastics coach Greg Marsden has her penciled in for those two events Friday night when No. 3-ranked Utah (1-0) hosts No. 11 Nebraska (2-0) at the Huntsman Center.

Her meet participation is based on how Baskett feels Friday after having done her first workout since Monday, Marsden said, but he added she wants to go in the two events if she can.

Baskett said she isn't sure how she displaced four or five ribs, didn't feel anything in Monday's workout, but she woke up very sore Tuesday and didn't train again until Thursday. She said she's had a great deal of treatments on the ribs from the university orthopedists and trainer Tom Iriye.

Her replacement Friday on beam will likely be sophomore Jamie Deetscreek, and taking Baskett's floor spot will be either senior Jessica Duke or possibly junior Nina Kim.
