TOOELE (AP) — A judge has ordered a Tooele mother to spend up to 15 years in prison for the death of her adopted 14-month-old Russian son.
Kimberly K. Emelyantsev pleaded guilty to second-degree felony child-abuse homicide in June.
In court Friday, Emelyantsev told 3rd District Judge Mark Kouris she was ashamed and would never get over what she has done.
Court documents say Nicoli Emelyantsev died in March after suffering a skull fracture.
An attorney for Emelyantsev said she was suffering from a severe depressive disorder when the boy suffered the fatal injuries.
