Two bank robberies in Salt Lake City less than 30 minutes apart Monday resulted in an arrest in one case and officers still looking for suspects in the other.

Just before 3 p.m. a man entered Chase Bank, 1285 S. 2100 East, and handed the teller a note saying he was robbing them, said Salt Lake police spokeswoman Lara Jones. After receiving an undisclosed amount of cash, the man was last seen riding away in the passenger seat of a white four-wheel drive Toyota Tundra with an extended bed, Jones said.

The man was last seen wearing a grayish-blue hoodie, a black baseball cap, blue Levi's, white tennis shoes, dark sunglasses and camouflage pattern gloves. There was no description Tuesday of the driver.

About 3:20 p.m. the Key Bank at about 410 E. 400 South was robbed. In that incident, the man also handed the teller a note demanding money, Jones said.

After the man ran out of the store, witnesses saw him take his sweat shirt off so he was wearing different clothing than when he was in the bank. Some witnesses called police to give detectives a new description of the man.

The man also was no longer wearing a hat as he was when inside the bank. But when officers stopped him near 500 South and 300 East, they could see a "hat ring" around his head. Officers later found the discarded clothes as they retraced the man's steps from the bank.

Michael Joseph Kunst, 39, was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail for investigation of robbery.

Jones said there was no evidence Tuesday to show the two bank robberies were connected.
