Provo is now broadcasting "Army NewsWatch" on Channel 17 on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays at 3 a.m., 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.
The half-hour newscast, produced every other week by the Department of the Army, gives an inside look at the lives of American soldiers and their families. Topics range from combat life in Iraq to protecting wildlife in the Everglades.
Provo will play the latest "Army NewsWatch" episode at a Veterans Information and Benefits Fair today from 4-8 p.m., at the Provo City Center, 351 W. Center St.
Veterans from throughout the region are invited to the fair sponsored by the Provo City Veterans Council and Utah Department of Veterans Affairs.
At the fair, the city will participate in the "Army NewsWatch" "Hi Honey" program. At about 5 p.m., it will video tape a 20-second group "shout out" to the military will be taped. The public is invited to participate. The video will then be sent to "Army NewsWatch" for possible use in a future episode. The program is broadcast over the American Forces Network to soldiers around the world.
Channel 17 is the city's government access channel, which is available to all cable subscribers in Provo. Its weekly program lineup is available at channel17.provo.org.
