Federal prosecutors have filed charges against a Lehi man accused of trafficking guns on an Internet classifieds site.
Michael Patrick Anderson, 44, is charged with being a felon in possession of a firearm. According to an affidavit filed with the charges, agents with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives said he was selling firearms on the classifieds site of KSL.com.
The ATF said Anderson had a dozen firearms for sale from August to September. Anderson is prohibited from selling the weapons, the U.S. Attorney's Office for Utah said, because he is a convicted felon. He has three felony convictions from Colorado under the name Michael Patrick Lauderman. In 2000, he legally changed his name to Anderson.
Anderson is scheduled to appear in federal court on Thursday for a detention hearing. The criminal offense carries a punishment of up to 10 years in federal prison.
