OGDEN — Weber State sophomore quarterback Cameron Higgins has been added to the official Walter Payton Award Watch List.

The winner of the 22nd Walter Payton Award, which goes annually to the top offensive player in the Football Championship Subdivision, will be presented by the Sports Network on Dec. 18, in Chattanooga, Tenn.

Higgins, a 6-foot-2, 195-pounder from Kai, Hawaii, has led Weber State to one of its best starts in school history. The Wildcats are 3-0 in conference and 5-2 overall, with the lone losses to Football Bowl Subdivision teams Hawaii, and Utah.

Higgins leads the nation with 2,138 passing yards and is tied for the national lead with 23 touchdown passes. Higgins ranks second in the nation with an efficiency rating of 176. He has completed 67.8 percent of his passes with just five interceptions. Higgins also has one rushing touchdown.
