As the Oct. 20 registration deadline looms for new voters who wish to participate in the upcoming election, a one-day drive-through service will give Salt Lake County residents the option of signing up from the comfort of their cars.

Salt Lake County Clerk Sherrie Swensen announced Friday that in anticipation of a last-minute rush of new registrants, an express drive-through lane will be set-up in the south parking lot of the Salt Lake County Government Center, 2001 S. State on Monday, Oct. 20, the final day to sign up.

"This is the last chance for first time voters to register to vote in order to participate in the upcoming November general election, and I hope they will take advantage of this convenient opportunity," Swensen said.

The option will be available to new, previously unregistered voters as well as those who have been registered elsewhere in the state but have relocated to Salt Lake County.

Voters may also walk in to register at the clerk's office at the same address. Hours on Monday will run from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Voters can check their registration status, find their election day polling and early voting location, see vote by mail information and view a sample ballot at www.clerk.slco.org. Questions? Try the county voter hotline at GOT-VOTE (468-8683.)
