John Preston Creer (Readers' Forum, Oct. 2) has falsely judged some members of the LDS Church for being prejudiced toward black Americans running for high office. Sometimes it is more convenient to conclude such things instead of openly reflecting upon the moral and political values as legitimate reasons for their position.
Perhaps Mr. Creer is not aware that many Mormons have nothing but respect and admiration for great Americans such as Condoleezza Rice, J.C. Watts, Clarence Thomas, Michael Steele, Walter Williams and Thomas Sowell. Assigning a sinister judgment to members of the LDS Church is not warranted.
