A man may have thought his trick-or-treat prank Friday was innocent fun, but Salt Lake police weren't howling.
About 8 a.m., a man tried to hang a large banner over Main Street between 100 and 200 South. The man used the fire escape to climb to the top of the Kearns Building to hang one end of the banner, and another fire escape to get to the top of the old Salt Lake Tribune building, said Salt Lake police spokeswoman Jordan Smith.
As the man descended from the second fire escape, he was met by police.
The banner had skulls on it and the word "scallywags," Smith said.
The man was given a ticket for criminal trespass and criminal mischief and released.
