Hurricane kind of flew under the radar this year racking up win after win down in Southern Utah. After Thursday's convincing 26-9 victory over Morgan, the secret is now out — the Tigers are a very good team.
Hurricane broke open a close game with a dominant performance in the second half led by an swarming defense and a very patient and physical offense.
The Tigers will now await the winner of Friday night's Juan Diego-Park City semifinal to find out who they'll play in next Friday's 3A championship game at Rice-Eccles.
Morgan had a chance to take the early lead on a first quarter drive, but Hurricane's Gordie Dotson intercepted a pass and returned it to midfield. The Tigers responded with a touchdown pass from Jase Langston to Jacob Pugh and they led the rest of the way.
Hurricane led 9-3 heading into the locker room at halftime, and it opened the second half with a very impressive 10-play scoring drive that Dotson capped with a 15-yard touchdown run to increase the lead to 16-3.
Dotson finished the game with 124 yards and two touchdowns on 24 carries.
