Campus Community Outreach Project — Salt Lake Community College, Weber State University, Westminster College and Utah Valley University are recruiting for full-time VISTA volunteer positions. A 12-month commitment is required; position begins Dec. 8. Benefits include $865 per month living allowance, health insurance, paid training and a post-service education award of $4,725.

Davis Senior Services — Volunteers needed for Davis County senior citizens. A variety of volunteer opportunities are available.

Red Butte Garden — Volunteers are needed to help during horticulture project days to get the gardens ready for winter. This is an opportunity for people to assist the horticulture staff with a project that could take weeks to accomplish without help. This opportunity is good for groups.

Quilters Without Borders — This interfaith service organization meets at 7 p.m. on the first Thursday of the month at various churches to tie quilts, which are donated to local charities. No experience or religious affiliation is needed, and new host churches are always welcome. For the location of the next meeting or for further information, go to www.quilterswithoutborders.org.

Boy Scouts of America Scout Reach Program — Scout leaders are needed to help with after-school packs and troops at local schools between 2 and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Festival of Trees — Ten volunteers are needed to load and unload a storage unit on Friday, Nov. 28, and Sunday, Dec. 7, in Woods Cross. Volunteers should be able to lift heavy items. It will take about four hours to load items into and out of the trucks. Also, candy makers are needed to donate items for the festival. Craft items are needed as well.

ARC of Utah — Seeking volunteers to go door to door and put up Gift Box fliers. This Salt Lake County-area project can accommodate any size group and be done on any day. Ten thousand fliers need to be distributed.

Volunteer Income Tax Assistance — Volunteer a minimum of three hours a week from January through April 15, 2009. Help low-income families keep more of what they earn. Locations vary across Salt Lake and Tooele counties. Hours are flexible. Positions include tax preparer, transmitter, greeter, interpreter and financial resource specialist. Training provided.

Kostopulos Dream Foundation — Volunteers are needed to help adults with disabilities see the lights at Temple Square and a variety of other opportunities in December.

Indian Walk In Center — Volunteers are needed throughout the day Saturday, Nov. 22, to help prepare and serve Thanksgiving dinner.
