A man is recovering in the hospital after being stabbed outside a convenience store, then hit by a car.

Salt Lake police said the 20-year-old man got into a fight at a 7-Eleven store at 114 W. 1700 South early Sunday morning. Police said he walked out of the store and was punched in the face, hit in the head with a bottle and then stabbed in the abdomen.

"As a result of the assaults, he stepped off of the curb and was hit by a car and knocked into another vehicle," Salt Lake City police spokesman Dennis McGowan said in a statement Monday.

The victim was hospitalized in serious condition. Police had few details about the attacker.
