Police arrested a man who was hired to do some labor and then later stabbed the person who hired him in a confrontation over money.

The victim agreed Thursday to hire the assailant for unspecified labor and pay him $10, said Salt Lake County Sheriff's Lt. Paul Jaroscak. The man then used the money to buy beer and returned to the apartment where he was hired near 3600 South and 900 East. He confronted the other man and demanded an additional $20, Jaroscak said.

The victim said he didn't have any more money. Upon hearing that, the other man grabbed a kitchen knife with a 7-inch blade, stabbed the victim in the lower back and demanded, "All of your money, your property of value," Jaroscak said.

When the assailant realized the victim truly didn't have any more money, he left.

Salt Lake City police were called to assist in the search for the laborer with their bloodhound Moe. Moe, who quickly found the man hiding in a Dumpster near 3900 South and 900 East, Jaroscak said.

The disgruntled laborer, 22, was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail for investigation of aggravated assault. The victim was admitted to the hospital for possible surgery.
