The Bible is the book of reference for believing Christians. There are at least 10 scriptures that indicate homosexuality is contrary to the will of God. There are at least two reasons why this behavior is forbidden: (1) sexual acts outside of marriage (adultery/fornication) and (2) the type of sex acts carried out between "gays" or "lesbians" are acts incapable of procreation and therefore intrinsically deplorable. It is not a matter of hate but of principle, morality and human values. If you accept the Old and New Testaments, you must take the position that God has spoken on this matter through Moses and Paul. Other explanations may give secular reasons for prohibition — good ones. But if the Bible is God's word to mankind, that is sufficient for Jewish or Christian believers.
