A man who left his toddler son in a car while the man watched the film "Dark Knight" pleaded guilty Tuesday to class A misdemeanor reckless endangerment.

David James Farnham, 23, pleaded guilty before 3rd District Judge Judith Atherton, who set a sentencing date of Jan. 20.

The judge ordered Farnham to go to Project Reality for a drug test on Tuesday and also requested that Adult Probation & Parole prepare a pre-sentence report. Farnham previously was facing a charge of class A misdemeanor child abuse, which was amended.

Police said Farnham left his 2-year-old son in a hot car to attend the movie at the Century 16 Theatres in South Salt Lake on July 20. Other moviegoers noticed the child inside the hot car and called police.

The child was later released to his mother.
