SHARE Lessons from past ignored

As financial and economic calamities continue to unfold, I can't avoid feelings of dismay and anger. Why have we, as a government and a people, not heeded the painfully dear lessons from our past?

The answer is obvious. We have allowed greed and irrational exuberance to trump common sense. Most of us knew better, but none acted to rein things in.
