On the night of Oct. 31 my car was "booted" by University Parking Enforcement in the Del Taco parking lot during business hours. According to the parking enforcer, my car was booted "because if I were a customer, I would not park in back." There was no recourse or appeals process available prior to paying the fine. I had to pay the $50, and I am now forced to prove my innocence via an appeals process. This is the legal equivalent of being assumed guilty until being proven innocent. The parking enforcer handed me a Web address where I can print off the appeals form.

No phone number. No one to talk to. Just a printable form that requires you to include a self-addressed and stamped envelope and the promise you will receive notification via mail in two to six weeks.

I am tired of being pushed around because I am a college student with limited resources and no representation.
