PROVO — Two wars, high gas prices, a falling stock market, rising unemployment, a housing crisis, a credit crunch and, out on that horizon, the possibility that Social Security will fail.
Whew, it's a lot for college students to swallow.
"Everything in the news is so negative," Brigham Young University physiology major Eric Malmgren said. "It's such a relief to see a good headline."
Or to hear the occasional optimistic talk by a general authority of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, added Malmgren, 21, of Boise, Idaho.
