OREM — Utah State came into its game at Utah Valley with the plan to establish a post presence and see if the Wolverines could do anything to take them out of it.
The Aggies never had to worry about Plan B because Gary Wilkinson was nearly unstoppable, as the preseason WAC player of the year scored a career-high 29 points, hitting 12-of-14 shots, to lead USU to a 69-50 win at the McKay Events Center.
Utah State (6-1) dominated in the paint with Wilkinson, Tai Wesley and Matt Formisano leading the way. The Ags, often dropping in layups, scored 38 points in the paint and enjoyed a 33-20 rebounding edge.
Utah Valley (5-4) was paced by Ryan Toolson's 25 points, but many of those came in the final minutes of the game after USU had built a lead of as many as 21 points.
