Sad day for U.S., Utah

SHARE Sad day for U.S., Utah

Regarding Donald Ball of Utah and the other Blackwater defendants accused of killing 17 unarmed Iraqi civilians in 2007. If they are found guilty, it will be a sad day for our country. It is also sad that the defendants' attorneys feel that they would have a better chance of a fair trial in Utah because Utah is more pro guns than other states.

What does that mean — that our Utah citizens would be inclined to be more lenient and understanding of the mass murder at Nisoor Square? I don't think that is the kind of reputation we want or deserve.
