HERRIMAN — A 10-month-old boy was reported to be in fair to good condition following a near-drowning in a bathtub Tuesday morning.

A mother had her two children in the bathtub at their home near 14300 South and 5600 West about 9:30 a.m. Tuesday when she had to leave the room for about 30 seconds, said Unified Fire Authority Capt. Wade Russell.

When she returned, the boy was under the water. When the mother pulled him out he was semi-conscious and vomited some water, Russell said.

The child was taken as a precaution by ambulance to a local hospital. Medical helicopters were unable to fly at the time because of the weather, Russell said.

The latest report UFA officials received was the boy was alert and breathing on his own.
