OREM — Police have arrested a local high school student for the alleged theft of $43,000 in computer equipment from an elementary school.
An arrest affidavit contends that the 18-year-old Mountain View High student broke into Cherry Hill Elementary School in October and took 36 laptop computers from a computer lab. Police say 27 laptops were found at the student's home when he was arrested on Monday. Of those, 22 have been confirmed as computers taken from the school and returned. Some of the computers had been sold.
The Mountain View student was booked into the Utah County Jail for investigation of burglary.
A second teen was also arrested. Police say the pair, who both recently turned 18, are suspects in at least two other school burglaries.
