Ellen Blattmann Olsen

Ellen Blattmann Olsen died peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on February 16, 2008 of causes incidental to age. She was 101 years of age and was living in her own apartment until one week before her death - a true "Energizer Bunny."
Ellen was born in Drammen, Norway to Anton Caspar Blattmann and Hilde Marie Mortensen Blattmann on July 31, 1906. She married her eternal sweetheart, John William Olsen on April 10, 1930 in the Salt Lake Temple. Together they had three sons and one daughter. John passed away March 18, 1957 and has been waiting for this reunion for 51 years.
Ellen was a convert to the LDS Church and a stalwart member serving in many capacities including Relief Society president, Primary president, Young Women leader and a teacher in each auxiliary. She loved the Lord, her family, geneology research, knitting and skiing.
She is preceeded in death by her husband, parents, seven siblings, and one grandchild. She is survived by her children, Gordon (Louan) Olsen, Leon (Kay) Olsen, Roydon (Elisabeth) Olsen, Joan (Duff) Ellsworth, 18 grandchildren, 31 great-grand-children, one great-great grandchild, two sisters - Marit Falk and Aase Strand, one sister-in-law, Astrid Blattmann and many nieces and nephews.
Her children would like to thank the staff at the Residence of CareSource for their tender and professional care and all the family members, friends and neighbors who have been so kind and helpful to her.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Feb. 21, 2008, 12 noon at the Garden Heights South Ward, 2220 E. Fisher Lane (2980 South). Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the Holbrook Mortuary, 3251 South 2300 East, and at the church on Thursday morning from 10:45-11:45 a.m. prior to services.
